"It is absurd to wait for the introduction of high definition television because it will not be started before five years" said Jean-Paul Baudecroux, president of the supervisory board of NRJ Group, whereas TF1 pleads for a progression of the launching of terrestrial numerical television (TNT) to allow the diffusion of television in high definition using MPEG-4-standard. In his conversation with the french newspaper "Echoes", Jean-Paul Baudecroux also declared that "for the radio market, I do not see another sector as profitable as television if one wants to widen his activities".

However for the president of the supervisory board of the group of music radios, the true objective behind NRJ's numerical efforts is, to occupy all the grounds: the radio, local and national television.
The group pleads in addition for "a very fast and global introduction of the numeric radio between december 2004 and march 2005". As for the profitability of the investments carried out in the TNT, Mr. Baudecroux indicated that as of the launching of NRJ TV, the chain will have "access to 5 million households via the cable, the satellite and ADSL. Moreover, it expectations with a cover of the territory by the TNT faster than envisaged, are between 2,5 and 3 million households the first year and 24 million in 5 years.
