The IT and me

Speaking of information technology, my way back from the 80s to what I'm now sounds like a walk throught the history of personal computing. I was always very sticky with those guys from C=... I mean, come on... you know... they were known as CBM, Commodore Business Machines or simply Commodore...

Later on it was really tough for me, to be forced leaving planet Commdore and set sail towards those nasty compatibles...

But hey, the man is very adaptable, you even manage the software of Microsoft sometime...

In the meantime I was doing my training and got in contact with mainfraime computing... Siemens BS 2000 - my gosh, was this a hell of a machine...

But the IT-world was changing and so my business and I did wander towards client/server-infrastructures, which is, what everyone today means, when talking about corporate computing. But there they were: Both ways (private and business) together on one track... compatible... once again!

And so I collected a heck of knowledge from different areas of IT... together with a more and more expanding amount of programming languages to speak: many Basic-dialects, Pascal, Cobol, VisualBasic, ABAP/4, C, C++, Perl, Python, PHP and so on...

Well and then there were the databases... it all started with DBase. Then there was MaxxonTwist, Access, Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL and... of course all that more or less ANSI -compatible SQL-dialects...

And now I'm currently back into SAP -business, administrating Web Application Servers, Mobile Engines, Internet Transaction Servers and much more.

I will, from time to time, add some small stories that tell parts of my IT-history... so you can share some thoughts with me.

Happy computing...
